Are you serious about your writing? And your novel?
Then you need to know what readers expect and how they will respond.
Critique groups form an invaluable function, for those who are willing to invest the time. An ideal group provides emotional support, fair critiques, and an opportunity for networking.
Meeting once a month in Zürich on Friday evenings, we will engage in discussion of novels in progress. We’ll have serious, respectful conversation about character development, story arc, and pacing, as well as genre. Submissions will be read before meetings, so there will be time for each participant to receive feedback. Meetings are FREE.
The format will be sequential reading of chapters, when possible, but serious writers whose manuscripts are still in progress are welcome. (This group is not geared towards the needs of poets and authors of children’s books.)

ZuriLiest 2014
From 23-26 October, the international literary festival Zürich liest’14 (Reading Zurich) will take place in and around the cities of Zürich and Winterthur. With 150 literary events and more than 200 writers from Switzerland, Germany, Europe and overseas, Zürich liest is a well-known literary festival in the German-speaking world. Programme out in September.
Kate Tempest
Perfomance poet and word wizard at exil on 2 December. “Kate Tempest started out when she was 16, rapping at strangers on night buses and pestering MCs to let her on the mic at raves. Ten years later, she is a published playwright, novelist, poet and respected recording artist. Brand New Ancients, her self-performed epic poem to a live score, won the Ted Hughes prize in 2013 and the Herald Angel at Edinburgh Fringe.” Unmissable.
SCBWI Fall Workshop
The Society for Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators Fall Workshop will be held in Mont-sur-Lausanne on Saturday, 25. October, 2014. There will be two tracks: Picture Books (for writers and illustrators) and Middle Grade/Young Adult (for writers). Each track consists of two sessions. (You may register for only one track.)
